What is Parent Coaching?
The responsibility of a parent is enormous, especially in the world we live in today. Our job, as parents, is to raise children to become respectful, decent, and productive members of society who are resilient to life's shortfalls. There is no greater job on earth than shaping children and to free them into the world for the greater good of society.
Many parents seek parent coaching because their children have issues. So why isn't called "kid coaching?" Because, quite frankly, parents are the single most important asset in the shaping of their family, and have the power to transform their family and achieve greatness.
Therefore, parent coaching is for busy parents who are looking for new ways to strengthen their families and live their best lives imaginable. Parent coaches provide uplifting support, parenting tools, bright ideas, new perspectives, and co-create plans to for busy parents. Our goal is to help parents create a unique vision, design a personal parenting plan, implement action, and sustain momentum, so that parents can achieve lasting results.
Why Parent Coaching?
We are a technology-rich, time starved country. Many parents today suffer from feeling over tired, over stressed, and overwhelmed. Life is too short and it’s important for parents to enjoy life again to be the best for their children and families. As in athletic coaching, a parent coach helps parents improve their focus and become well-equipped so they can tackle the everyday roadblocks and move forward with fulfilling their dreams.
Working should-to-shoulder, a parent coach gives parents the tools to discover inner desires, design a workable action plan, and complete the transformation process to live their best life possible. Many clients find that parent coaching provides them with a new sense of hope, possibility, opportunity, alternatives, and, most of all, peace. It’s also important to note that parent coaching differs from counseling and therapy.
What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
Counseling and therapy typically uses a method derived from a "deficit model," which focuses on what is not working, as well past experiences. Coaching, on the other hand, uses a "strengths-based" model and reviews what is working. Coaching also focuses on the future and is more action-oriented. For over a decade, corporations have been effectively using coaching to help their employees be more productive members of their organization. Therefore, it makes sense for parents to have a built-in support system to ensure that their family members are more productive for society.
Our unique coaching model blends Appreciative Inquiry and Living Systems Principles to help parents reach their fullest potential. Appreciative Inquiry involves systematic discovery of what gives “life” to a living system when it is most alive; and the art and practice of asking questions that strengthen a system’s capacity to apprehend, anticipate, and heighten one's positive potential.
What Does a Parent Coach Do?
A parent coach is a highly trained professional with a broad background of education and experience, who actively listens to clients, asks probing questions to uncover inner strengths and desires, empowers clients with information and resources, as well as, offers tools to help make major life improvements. Parent coaches ask strategic, thought-provoking questions that help discover new perspectives, thought patterns, and strengths, which, in turn, creates a more hopeful future. This process of inquiry acts as a catalyst for change to occur with not only with the parents, but also the entire family system.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?
A parent coach works closely with parents to identify specific goals. Every parent has unique and individual needs, so the length of time it takes depends upon the client's willingness, motivation and openness to actively participate. Typically, clients ask for at least 4 coaching sessions, which can be extended to reach additional parenting goals. At the end of the coaching process, many clients often experience a sense of empowerment, more freedom, and a great deal of peace, joy and satisfaction. Results vary based on the client's level and willingness to participate in the process. Generally, the higher the level of motivation, and the more willing, the greater the rewards. Sample Client TestimonialI came to Ms. Pendray because of sibling rivalry issues. Ms. Pendray uncovered the truth about why my children were acting out and constantly getting into trouble. Now, I understand my children better and I am a better parent. She helped me get organized at home and gave me several tools to use which helped me get closer to my son again. Now, I have a great relationship with my son, he is much more compliant, and my children get along so much better together. They are thriving and we are now able to venture out in public without major tantrums.” Mother of 2, Everett, WA
